"Let's Get it Started, Downey"

The Foundry and Downey Dolphins are going for it this year! The children are learning to use their imaginations and opening themselves up to see learning in a whole new light.

A special night of learning came during the Parent Night at Downey, the fellows from the Foundry introduced the children to MakeyMakey! The children were so excited; they had so much fun making, creating and exploring new things, that they didn't realized (until the end) that they were learning! It was such a joy to see the kids beam up while learning! Thanks Rob and Brendan

Also, thanks to United Way, the children at Downey were provided with over 200 Literacy Kits. The kits contained a book, activity sheets to accompany the books and the tools to complete the activities such as, crayons, pencils, scissors and so much more. Some teachers completed the activities in their classrooms and some children were able to work on the kits with their families at home! Everyone really enjoyed them! Thanks United Way!

This school year the leadership team will be challenging everyone to create an atmosphere of collaboration, to assist with the overall success of our school. The children, parents, teachers and community partners working together to build leaders of the future is our mission; and finding the art of "Fun while Learning" will be one of the keys to our success.
