Maker SHIFT
I don't know about you but I can hardly believe May is basically over. May was a very full month at The Foundry. We started this month exhibiting several of our school based projects at the first Maker SHIFT event in Midtown.
I displayed the NBA Math Hoops game that was delivered at Downey Elementary this school year. I was excited to talk to all the participating Makers about their ideas on deepening the value of this project by creating a new maker element to it.
The Maker SHIFT event was an excellent start to establishing and building a community of Makers in Harrisburg. On a personal note, it was a wonderful experience for me to attend this event. It broadened my knowledge and understanding of the Maker community.
Since the Maker SHIFT event, the Foundry fellows have been working diligently to not only wrap up projects and assess them but also began looking forward to launching new projects in the 2017-2018 school year. Assessing is a critical piece to Foundry work because it enables us to assess the success and value of the projects in a given year, thus allowing for continued improvement for students.
