The ONE MISSION, "Student Achievement".
On Novemeber 5th 2013 as I was teaching my 20 plus college students the fundamentals of business communication, I was arrested by the fact that most of my students were not properly prepared for the concepts that I was teaching them. Moved by compassion and a drive to help student achievement I begin to work with my students individually during my office hours to assure their success in my class. After about 5 years of working at the college I sought out to become an advocate and mentor for student achievement.
After many run ins with different organizations and professionals that claimed to rally around the idea of a better and brighter future for the next generation I came to realize that many of them lacked the capacity building strategies necessary to create sustained positive outcomes that foster student achievement. But upon connecting with Chad Frey and the Foundry Makerspace my dream was realized.
As a Messiah College graduate and Central Pa business executive it has been such a pleasure to work alongside Chad and his team of Makerspace Fellows. Currently I am working as a MakerSpace Fellow serving Scott School within the Harrisburg School District to provide additional support for S.T.E.M / S.T.E.A.M teachers working on project basing learning activities within the school. We have already met with the Principle and look forward to working with the assigned teachers on our new spring projects.
