Capacity Building for 21 Century Skill Development (Teachers Edition)
21 Century skill development has become an essential ingredient for success in current and emerging markets. As technology and business concepts become more innovative the need for students to develop skills that will help them thrive in these markets is paramount. As a senior fellow working to build capacity for 21 century skill development within public education I have become more and more aware of the need for ongoing opportunities for this type of skill development not only for students but for teachers as well. Many teachers are more acquainted with traditional literacy and teaching methods which are fundamentally essential to learning. However, the adoption of S.T.E.A.M PBL for the development of 21 Century skills is critical for the overall learning experience for k-12 students. As a result, giving teachers not only the ability to facilitate the learning of traditional disciplines but also 21 century skills that promote career readiness within a highly completive global economy.
